Lata Mangeskar whose birthday is coming up on 28th September-
1. Started off as an actress and acted in 8 films for 6 years !!!(1942-48)
2. Started singing just to sustain her family after her father's death.
3.Lata's initial rejection was because of her thin voice(nasal voice was the vogue then)
4.she debuted with playback singing for the Marathi film Kiti Hasaal (1942)
5. It is said that Lata didi believes that her voice suits actress Saira Banu's the best!
6. She has been connected to perfumes as well!
In 1999, the perfume Lata Eau de Parfum was launched.
7.She can draw too!Diamond ornaments(Named Adora) designed by her were sold @ £105,000(she donated the entire amount)
