Intro:In a seminar held A few months ago, I was shocked to know that the library of Nalanda University took more than a couple of months to be burnt down.I shuddered to imagine the loss.It was not a loss to the university itself.It was an irreparable loss to the nation and to the world.

The curtains have risen again:
After 800 years the gates of The same university have been opened for the students again. Truly a great news for all of us !
Some interesting facts:
1.Established in the fifth century during the Gupta dynasty, the ancient Nalanda University was once flocked by thousands of scholars and thinkers from across the world.
2. The Turkish army destroyed it.
3. It was a residential University.
4.It will be a residential university again by 2020.
5.The university is an initiative of the Indian government and the 18 East Asia Summit (EAS) countries.
6. During his trip to Brunei in October 2013, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had inked agreements with seven EAS countries — Australia, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei, New Zealand, Laos and Myanmar — that have pledged their commitment to the project.

8. Maintaining high academic standard is the major motto. So, Over 1,000 students from 40 countries have sought admission in Nalanda University. But only 15 students have been selected,
