THE BEGINNING:-

1. Panini’s grammar standardized Sanskrit(1^st stage) about 5^th century BC but most people used Prakit (2^nd  stage),the 3^rd stage being Apabhramsa.

2.The emergence of modern Indo-Aryan languages dates from the period after AD 1000.

3.Among the Dravidians languages Tamil, was the earliest to be developed for literary purposes .

4.The two other speech families are Nishada and Kirata
